Half.
That’s how many birthmothers change their minds about adoption after giving birth. Can you blame them?
Five years ago, I was teaching first period English 8 when they called to tell us that they were inducing and to stand by. I thought we would have a day or two to wait. We counted the minutes. We prayed. We held our breath. Four hours later (who gets to have their first baby in four short hours?!), our social worker called and told us to come to the hospital, where this blanketed miracle was placed in our arms.
Wishing our sweet Jedediah a happy 5th birthday today.
*And as always, thanking our friends and family who walked with us through the adoption process. Yes!?! It has been five years…so hard to believe.
Congratulations! We adopted our daughter from Russia 7 years ago in April. (She was almost 1 year old when we brought her home.) I didn’t know that you had adopted your son! I’d love to hear your story sometime…. Adoption is such a beautiful thing that I am grateful to have been allowed to experience. Time flies when you’re having fun, right!? 🙂 Enjoy celebrating with your special little guy today!
It was a perfect day. I can’t believe that was 5 years ago. Thanks for letting us share in your joy. Happy Birthday Jett!
