I have several dear, dear friends mourning heavy losses today—separate places, separate incidents, separate lives lost– but then we are never really so far apart, are we?
Won’t you walk with me silently in prayer next to them?
For HP, RC, and NM
The world implodes tonight with the ringing phone
Gone.
Suddenly untethered from the ground
Reality swirls unsteady
A microburst of pain, of uncertainty, of fear
To be left here to breathe
A severe, unwelcome mercy
Why-why-why pounds my blood
Oh, help my unbelief
Grief takes me in its rip tide
Dragging the bottom of the sea
My fingers slip against the water
Grief wrings
I have no water left in me
Walk with me on the rocks
Silent
Sob when I can’t
Hold my hand
Mourn with me
When there is no answer for Gone
I only need you to walk with me on the rocks
Silent
Praying
Anchoring me to the earth
Hear my breath
Tether me again to this life
Please.
…just mourn with me.

Sorry to hear of such sorrow.
