Cora Jo had one last sleepover with one of her best friends who will be moving this week. I learned later that Cora had given her favorite dolphin necklace to her friend as a token of their friendship. Watching my kids make and grieve friends is one of the most difficult parts of this life. (And yes, she is ridiculously tall and growing too much, thank you for noticing.)

Someone was a complete beast one day this week… growling, hissing, and publicly embarrassing in general. Then we got in the car to drive home and within minutes I looked back to see this:

Sleep- the great lion tamer.

Memphis played a mime in her drama class performance. I’ll wait while you finish laughing at the irony. She was awesome though. She also played Jetsam the eel and a princess in her chorus’ production of The Little Mermaid, Jr.

I turned 40.

this is 40

We went to the opening of the pool and I remembered what freedom looks like. It is wrapped inside an orange swimming band. The high dive was closed thank goodness.

I drove around more than I would like (as usual). One day, I passed a double decker truck of pigs (note my own little pig on the dash).

Later in the week, I drove behind a Nissan President Sovereign.  I guess this model didn’t sell well in the U.S. test markets.

I rearranged our dining area space into a functional office. An office is one of the things I have been missing. I think it turned out well, and the only thing I bought was an office chair. Virginia Woolf would be proud.

I have a few tomatoes still coming in spite of the snails which have taken over the entire island of Okinawa. (Yes, I have again paid my children as snail control. Snails were definitely harmed in defense of these tomatoes.)

Best of all, Matt arrived home from two months at Camp Fuji.
