Had to say goodbye to an old friend this week. We’ve had her almost fifteen years. Cancer has been eating away at her for awhile, and the vet said it was time.
“Did you say goodbye to Baby?” I asked my daughter Cora Jo. I tried not to let my voice crack, but I was fighting tears.
She stretched out her hands and scratched Baby behind the ears, holding her head in her hands.
“Goodbye, Baby. Have a good forever sleep,” she said. Both of them smiled, content in the now.
I often think my eight-year-old accepts this life much better than me. Goodbye, Baby.
Goodbye Baby, you have had a great life with lots of fun loving experiences. We will all miss you.
Thx Aunt Nancy.
So sorry Sue. I had my cat for 15 years and it was so hard when that day came.
Thx Wendy. We get so attached to these pets! So good to see your smiling face.
I’m so sorry, Good friends are a treasure. Wonderful you all had one.
I’m sure there are lots of new friends that have welcomed her.
Sue, I love your writings, you are very gifted. I miss when your Aunt Nancy doesn’t send them to me.
Give all the family a hug and love.
Your friend
