I’m currently revising a cozy mystery called Murder on Loan that takes place in a California military desert town, much like Twentynine Palms, CA. The week before her husband returns from deployment, Molly’s best friend is arrested for the murder of a payday loan shop manager. Can she find the real murderer and clear her friend before their husbands return?
Many struggle to see the beauty in the desert. It is dry and sometimes dangerous with soaring temps, prickly plants, and poisonous insects and animals. But after several years living there, I miss it, much like my protagonist will by the end of her story.
