Research has its limitations. I read a sidebar today reporting that people who visit zoos leave in a state of heightened relaxation with lower blood pressure. Um, all I can say is, they haven’t gone with the Weems.  Don’t get me wrong, we love to go to the zoo. My kids love seeing all the animals, and I love going places where we are not the only humans speaking too loudly, whining, arguing, or throwing a tantrum in the middle of mandatory family fun.

Heightened relaxation? Um, no.

Lowered blood pressure? Only if I have killed someone.

Still, zoos are always great places to visit and learn about the natural world, as well as  an opportunity to practice being human in public. Unless you are a Weems. Then you are usually practicing how to be a monkey.
