Good news! I found my brain! Apparently it passed straight through Arizona and was waiting in California for me. Luckily I was in California this week for work and play, so I picked it up.

How do you get going again when you have been in a funk or on hiatus? My life seems to be a long string of interruptions, so I face this question again and again. I think about the list of things I SHOULD be doing, and I get tired. Then I pass the day putting out fires in reactionary moments, instead of making intentional strides forward.

For me, I have found that the way out of my funk is to make small goals and meet them. The key is for them to be small and manageable to get the ball rolling again. When I take a month *cough* or two off running, it’s self-defeating to think “I’m gonna get a good 5 miler in today.” A better goal is “Today I will get my shoes on and jog/walk 30 minutes.”

With writing, my small goal is to write a post or two for this week, with photo evidence that I have not in fact killed my children during this transition time. Thank you all for reading and for checking on me during my time away.

Are you making and meeting any small goals today? How do you get out of funks?
