I’ve had the same valentine for sixteen years. Against all odds, we keep choosing each other day after day, month after month, year after year. My heart is heavy for friends who are alone again this year- some have not found a valentine who stays, some have lost a valentine through divorce, some are married, but feel more alone than ever, and others are separated by deployment or work commitments.
Early on in marriage, I believed the destructive lie that Matt completed me. Whatever the situation, another person cannot complete us. While Matt is dependable, I am foolish to depend solely on him. When you feel alone today or any day, turn to the only one who can love you fully, the only one who DOES complete you. Do you know how much Jesus loves you? It’s so much more than a trite children’s song. You are beloved, you are pursued, you are delighted in…
I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know that this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God! Ephesians 3:17-19
See those two kids in the middle? You might not recognize Matt with his goatee. March 9, 1996. So thankful today and everyday for the grace that brought these two families together. Each person pictured has an amazing story of redemption in progress. Love you all.
