Along with the goodbyes and purging, we have had some sweet moments the past month or so. Our crazy friends the Mitchells came into town last weekend, but I haven’t quite stopped laughing yet, and it will likely require another post to fully explore that visit.

A couple weeks back, we did have a reunion with an amazing family we met in Twentynine Palms (2004-2007). The Thompsons were in town meeting friends for the weekend, and they allowed us to host all of them for lunch on Sunday. Six adults and ten kids + tacos with homemade salsa and guacamole= pure joy.

Our oldest children started kindergarten together in Ms. Z’s class. Bless that woman who managed thirty kindergarteners and all of us “room helper” moms. Trish and I attended the Christian Women’s Fellowship on base, and along with a few other moms at our bus stop, we began a Wednesday morning prayer time at the bus stop- and Lord knows that bus driver needed prayer carting our crazy crew into town. Such sweet memories!

About a week later, we met some new friends, Mike and Evelyn Amis. I guess Sunday is salsa day, because we had Mexican food. We have been dying to meet the Amis family, because we have two terrific mutual friends who don’t know each other—the Bradshaws, stationed here in Norfolk and the Chartiers, stationed in Oman.  We had a sweet time of fellowship with them, and I know our paths will cross again.

When I am tempted to curse this rambling life that seems to never sit still, God brings people into our lives that remind me that we are not home yet. So thankful for all the amazing friends and family that surround us.
